Holy Cross Clinic and Saint Agnes Medical Center have an excellent opportunity for a licensed and certified Nurse Practitioner to provide health care for the homeless and indigent population as part of the health care team located in Fresno, California.

The selected Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide health care and health education to clients.
  • Refer clients to other agencies and facilities as appropriate.
  • Work with medical specialists who volunteer at the Clinic to provide care and thereby decrease referrals to other facilities.
  • Develop and implement programs for preventative health care and health education, such as women's health screenings, diabetic care, asthma clinic, TB screening and flu vaccinations. Utilize community resources for these types of services as appropriate.
  • Provide and assist with orientation and direction of the volunteer staff.
  • Provide daily supervision of staff related to clinical matters.
  • Participate in, or present programs on health-related topics in the community on behalf of Holy Cross Clinic. Summarize presentations for Community Benefit Report.
  • Investigate opportunities with Director to expand Clinic services.
  • Develop and maintain written protocols for function of FNP in clinic setting.
  • Participate in the development of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Promote awareness of the mission of Holy Cross Clinic and the needs of the client population served within the public and medical community.
  • Foster and demonstrate teamwork with Clinic, Poverello House, medical center staff and volunteers.
  • Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development.
  • Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served within the unit.

Requirements for this opportunity include:

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with the State of California.
  • Registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
  • Nurse Practitioner applicants must have a Master's Degree in Nursing or related clinical field, with preparation and skills in physical diagnosis, psycho-social assessment, and management of health/illness needs in primary health care with completion of a program conforming to the California Board of Registered Nursing standards as specified in California Code of Regulations (CCR} 1484 Standards of Education is required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR card is required.
  • Experience working with a multicultural homeless/indigent client population.
  • Preference will be shown to candidates who have a fluency in Spanish.
